I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, military family member, and nonprofit founder who has worked with veterans in private sector, government, and nonprofit settings for over 17 years.
I began working with veterans in 2005, two years after my brother deployed for the invasion of Iraq. During six years' direct clinical service in the VA, I developed a passion for combat trauma across the lifespan.
In 2012 I left the Department of Veterans Affairs to pursue the vision of "a place where veterans could work on the land, sleep under the stars, and be in a community of other vets."
Under my leadership, the nonprofit Central Oregon Veterans Ranch was established in 2014, delivering an innovative, strengths-based, holistic model of healing for combat veterans.
My journey began two years after my brother's 2003 deployment for the invasion of Iraq. Inspired by his military service and all of those serving in a post 9/11 world, I felt called to serve.
This prompted a six-year journey working as a trauma therapist in the VA, where I developed a passion for what combat trauma looks like across the lifespan.
Taking a risk, pursuing my dream, and founding a nonprofit and innovative model of holistic care for veterans took me to heights beyond my imagination, such as testifying in the Senate, meeting General Mattis, and co-producing an award-winning documentary.
Faith, knowledge, perseverance, passion and people can fuel your journey and help your dream of changing the world come true.
